Anywho, there's one week left but we had a great time this last week. Actually it was pretty normal last week, but it's all great right? Here's the fill:
- On P-Day we were planning on going to 신세계 Shinsaegae (it's a HUGE department store in Korea) but oops their closed on Mondays. So we went to the downtown and bought some swag. And then slept and took our nap for the week. Sweet bliss.
- We got Elder Sayer's tongue checked out again, he's all good *thumbs up* He's just gotta keep gargling his medicine and stuff and he'll be good to go. Only healthy tongues over here in Suseong now.
- We met two new investigators this week. We met one kid earlier this week named 이다온 Lee Daon, and he's a middle schooler living near the same neighborhood where our house is. We taught him how to play ping pong, and then taught him how to play some basketball, After all that we told him what we're doing as missionaries and if it'd be okay to talk about some spiritual stuff when we meet again. He's super down. He calls us his missionary older brothers. Cute kid. The other guy is a guy we got as a referral from some missionaries in Ulsan. He's super good at English and we didn't get to talk to him for very long but we shared a short message about the Restoration and what we're doing as missionaries and he too is down to see us again. His name is 장재훈 (Jang Jaehoon).
- We got to meet our new investigator who came to church last week, 김민식 Kim Minshik. And he came to church again! He's doing super good. We got to teach a lesson with a member this week and we were able to answer all of his questions (he has SO MANY good questions) and then taught him some more after church this week. He's loving church, trying to pray and read the Book of Mormon, and still wants to meet with us. He's super prepared. And our other prepared investigator 박성호 Park Seongho got to meet with the Elders in the area where he's going to college! Everyone's progressing well.
- We played some more 족구 Jokku (foot volleyball) with our Elder's Quorum this week. We're thinking about bring it back to America and starting a league. It's super fun. And these old fellas know how to wreck us, they're way good.
- So we one day while we were doing some 전도 last transfer and we met an old eternigator (an eternal investigator) just by chance on the street. We found his record while digging through our area book and he's heard EVERYTHING from the missionaries multiple times. He had a long history and it hadn't looked like the missionaries gave him a chance for a long time. So we started meeting with him. We met him for the last time this week (maybe our third or fourth time meeting?) and we tried really hard to actually teach him something this time. And i don't know how well we taught him but we finally found his needs: he just wants to live happily. So we were able to tell him that more than just temporal, worldly happiness he can have continual happiness through the gospel and it looks like he really thought about it. But the coolest thing was when we told him that this was probably our last meeting (since our team has to drop) and he started crying a bit. I don't know why we met him or how we helped him but that last meeting felt like there was a meaning for it. Good luck for the next missionaries that find him, I think he's just a little more prepared than he originally was.
- Last but not least, we had our district meeting next week. This time around I lead a discussion about conversion. We started out by talking about how we can help our investigators experience conversion and it came down to us realizing for maybe the millionth time that we can't control their hearts, and that their conversion is 100% up to them. BUT that our purpose to invite gives them the opportunity to have spiritual experience by going to church, reading scriptures, or praying and that through those experience they can experience conversion. And we are the same. We need to have spiritual experience to further our conversion. Those experiences can be hard too, they're actually supposed to be difficult. But since we are the owners of our hearts we have 100% control on how you face those experiences. As we go through hard times, God is preparing us, and I know as we experience conversion we'll be able to help others do the same. It was an awesome discussion. I love my district, they're all ballers. Sad that next week is our last meeting :(
That's all I got! Today we're all meeting up as Daegu missionaries at our Suseong church and we're going to hang out inside (because it's raining like crazy outside and there should be a typhoon rolling in sometime in the near future). Should be fun. I'll hit you with the new transfer news next week! Love ya~
