Sorry I didn't email last week, I was with an investigator on a mountain (hence the subject title). He invited us to go to the biggest mountain here in Daegu's area so we went to 팔공산 Palgongsan. I've never spent half a day with an investigator before but it a lot more fun than I thought it was going to be. Great for Korean practice too, didn't speak any English for hours. And it was totally worth the P-day because he's comfortable enough to take lessons from us now! We met him yesterday after church, had a quick chat with him, and he's totally down to have a lesson next time. WOO! Other stuff that happened the previous week includes: directly referring a solid investigator to another area's Elders here in Daegu, the year mark (celebrated with a gallon of ice cream), and a new investigator.
Now I'll share an experience from this week!
I went on exchanges to 경산 Gyeongsan again with Elder Vongsayo! We originally had a booked day with an investigator appointment in a far away place in the area buuuut, it got cancelled. While we were heading there. Oops. So we hopped the bus and started trying out some 전도 at the big college campus they have here. but then we realized it was exams season and no one was there... So we left the college and started trying some 전도 in the surrounding neighborhood only to realize that there was also no one there. Bummer. But then the miracles starting rolling in! A car stopped out of nowhere and starting rolling down it's window. We thought it was a drive-by for a second and elder Vongsayo starting scooting behind me, but then we remembered we were in Korea (crazy safe), chilled out and these college students just stopped to say we were handsome and then drive away. Not really a miracle but a nice pick-me-up after the defeats we took earlier on. And then the real miracle happened! A motorcycle rode by and Elder Vongsayo noted that he thought it was 박상민 Park Sangmin (our golden investigator, and now convert, from when I served in 경산). I ran down the street, failed to catch him, and called him up immediately to tell him that I was in 경산 today and that I just saw him. A little background: ever since I got moved back to Daegu, I have calling him and trying to meet with him, and he's been having a harder time since he's been busy and has been crazy busy, so I haven't seen him since I left 경산. He turned back around immediately and it was admittedly one of the happiest moments I've had on the mission so far to be able to see him again. We talked over some dessert, I asked him straight-up about how's he's doing, he still loves Jesus and wants to go to church so bad but his job conflicts with church times and so he hasn't been for a long time. But my man is still staying strong and committed again to start meeting with the Elders when he has time.
And afterwards PJ invited us over for dinner (the other investigator, and now convert, who I helped find and teach when I was in this area)! He made Chinese food for us (he's from China) and we got to talk to him for a bit too. He related back to me his conversion story from his point of view and it is so darn cool to hear that as the missionary that found and taught him. He is going so strong right now, has the priesthood, and this week finally got a triple combination (BoM, D&C, PoGP) in Chinese!
And just for bonus, just two days ago after we were done playing soccer I got to stop by Spomartial Kim's restaurant (investigator, now convert, who I helped find and teach in my training area). He's got the Melchezidek priesthood now and he's trying to help his wife be baptized.
So the big miracle is, out of all the people I've found and taught in Korea, three have been baptized and I got to see them all in one week. ^^ I've realized that my favorite thing about missionary work is the people. The prepared people of Korea make serving the mission worth it because they are truly ready to accept the gospel, seek the blessings from it, and I have the privilege to witness it. Trying to accurately describe how I feel about watching them change and receive those blessings is difficult, but I can say it's by far the biggest joy I've been able to enjoy from the mission.
But anyway, best exchange ever! I look forward to meeting more amazing people like them, climbing more mountains, and continuing to have a great time~
More stuff happened this week but I've got no time! Thanks for reading and writing~~~
