Two fasts and a goose chase

HELLO EVERYONE~
It was another week here in Oncheon these past seven days, and this time there was no crazy meetings to worry about. Just a simple week of missionary work in beautiful Busan. The weather is still perfect too; it's that time of the year when it's warm in the sun and cool in the shade. I think the people on the street are feeling the good autumn vibes too. But anywho, we had some interesting stuff happen this week, I'll go ahead and let you know hat happened~

- We met our friend Darwin earlier this week and he's really starting to warm up to us. The only problem is we still need to make contact somehow with his parents...

- ...So we came up with idea to meet his parents! We knew that Darwin's father is an English professor here in Busan, so we subtly asked Darwin earlier this week where his father works and what his last name is. And thus began our journey, the very next day. We took a bus about an hour away to this lesser-known college shoved into the side of a mountain in our neighboring area. And when I say that the college was shoved up into the side of a mountain, I'm not kidding; the entire campus is considered a hike. So after asking all the friendly nearby students if they knew where the English dept. was or if they knew who Professor So-and-so was. After we exhausted all of our leads and all the energy in our legs, we sat down to catch our breath and break a fast that we had started the day before. We were DEAD. But we figured out that he does work there, he just wasn't available when we were looking for him. Welp, gotta try it again later. It was a fun the first time around though. Also this could've been something that happened last week, I don't really remember all that well.

- We met with one of our other younger friends this week too, 동현 Donghyun. We had a small little Family Home Evening with him at our Mission President's home, playing some cards and chatting. We only shared a short message and ended with a prayer but as we were leaving, we pretty sure we saw him tear up a bit. We think the Spirit might have touched his heart a little bit, and felt some of God's love for him through our kind and caring President Jeong and Sister Kim. We still have to figure out a way to get in touch with his parents as well. We're thinking about visiting his house next weekend when both of his parents are there.

- We did some group proselyting activities this week too. We had a sticker board asking people what the biggest questions of their soul were, and we were able to talk to a lot of younger peeps about how they can find the answers to those questions. And we also tried some music proselyting for the first time here in Oncheon. It didn't go all that well to be honest but we gave a good impression to the people that we were able to talk to. We were also going to try to do a district proselyting activity this week by a nearby college but I think we're going to try doing that next week. Group proselyting is super fun. Instead of walking for a few minutes to find the next person to talk to, you're literally just trying to talk to as many people as you can as they are passing by. It's pretty entertaining because you never know what you're going to say until you start talking with them.

- We also had an interesting situation with our friend JJ Santos who had a date to be baptized next week. We planned on meeting him this last week to finish up teaching him the lessons, and also to help him attend the sacrament meeting this Sunday (you have to attend at least 3 sacrament meetings to be considered ready to receive baptism in our mission). But he had some work come up and he had to go up to Seoul for the rest of the week. But we weren't going to give up on his date yet! So we started that really poorly timed fast, (the day before we did the college-hike-adventure looking for Darwin's dad), to help him attend church up in Seoul that week and still be able to be baptized the next week. We also had fast Sunday this week which we didn't even think about at the beginning of the week, why didn't we just wait until then? That wasn't a very bright decision. Anway, along with our fast and prayers, we got in contact with JJ and some English Branch missionaries up in Seoul and set up a plan for him to attend church that Sunday. The plan was perfect. Up until he told us on Sunday morning the his boss was sending him back to Busan and that he would have to miss the sacrament meetings in both Seoul and Busan... Bummer. But he still wanted to come see us as soon as he got back into Busan, so we met him shortly after church ended on Sunday to teach him a lesson and reschedule his baptismal date. And HOLY COW he's so prepared. We taught him the Law of Chastity and the Word of Wisdom and he just understands, accepts, and commits to it all. It was the answer we were expecting when we started our fast, but we know God heard our pareyrs and He's continuing to prepare our man JJ. His new date is now Nov. 18th.

Next week is the last week of the transfer! More changes to come next week. We're thinking we won't have too much craziness this week but there's still time to tell. Aaaaaand that's all I got this week. I'm currently trying to apply for BYU so I should probably get working on those essays... Thanks a lot for the reads and the writes~~
